I don't know whether I'm coming or going"

Well, It would be kind of fun--if the above are true--but how would we really know?--  Deep thoughts here for sure!

This afternoon, I am dropping Lopez off at Son#3's house, and am going to a Dance Recital, where our youngest Grandchild, will be performing-- I had decided NOT to go , many times-- phoned Son#3 and told him,  "I won't be going-"- and then changed my mind when Himself over fed little Lopez--- (while I was changing our bed upstairs-)-so--I called that son AGAIN, and said, I will be going----and then I sat down and cried--- which didn't solve anything----so, for my own sanity , I am going--- I guess you could say that I don't know whether I'm coming or going!-

I think it was "the soup" yesterday, that Himself decided to make-that had almost pushed me over the edge-- There are 2 of us in this house, and we had enough soup to feed the whole army-- Himself really overdid it--and what a huge mess in the kitchen.  I don't know why I didn't keep an eye on him----so, I paid the price later, as it took me forever to clean up the mess--We had soup everywhere--bones--meat--dishes--Lord love a Duck!-

So----  you just never know eh?---  Maybe a getaway will help me a lot!--  I hope!--- I wonder if the Queen needs this periodically-- ?---  -- a getaway-- Hopefully it will be as good as a rest!

  1. You can always freeze some of the leftover soup or take some with you to son#3. You have the mess from the soup making cleaned up so let it go . . . does no good to spend time on it. Go and enjoy yourself. . .you don't have to worry about Lopez because you are taking him. Have one of the other kids call himself while you are gone to keep him occupied (and checked in on).

  2. (((hugs)))

My brother was a cook in the State National Guard that required huge volumes. To this day he continues to cook like that, then stuffs the frig with leftovers which eventually get tossed because he an his wife don't eat leftovers. Go figure.

  3. OH heavens! Glad you ARE taking a little break and going to the recital and GREAT that son #3 will watch Little Lopez You DO need to have some me time.

Had to smile a little. My Dad always loved to cook and he LOVED making soup. Never did he ever make a small amt. of soup. He had what I called his industrial sized vat for making soup. Lord. When he and Mom moved here, he insisted the vat come with as he was going to make soup here. As you say, Lord love a duck. There wasn't a surface in my kitchen that was left unscathed. Every pot, pan, dish, utinsel was used. I always stayed in the kitchen when he cooked, because I have a gas stove and he'd forget to make sure the flame lit to cook OR to turn it off when he was done. I tried to be inconspicuous, but I sure didn't want a gas explosion or fire! On a good note, his soup was always delicious. AND there definitely was enough to eat for a long while. Lots went into the freezer. I always had to make sure there was room in the freezer when he announced he was going to make soup.

Enjoy the recital, enjoy the break!

  6. I think you'll really enjoy watching your granddaughter's dance recital and it's good that you are taking little Lopez to your son's house while you're gone. It must be so challenging for you some days, I can't even imagine! I hope you were able to freeze several containers of soup!!!

  9. Oh my, Lynda, at least you don’t need to pay for dog care. Wonder what Himself does when you are gone from the house? I hope you can enjoy yourself at the recital. Do you need to buy bananas while you are gone?

  11. Sorry about the soup but it sounds so like what I did the first time I made soup! First let me say I don't cook!!! I have trouble following recipes or any type of written instructions. It is like it is written in another language (and yes I am looking at the English version of the instructions!!! One time I was trying to read either German or Spanish and someone pointed out that I need to read the English version - which was just as confusing as far as I am concerned!!!)

So I thought how hard can soup be to make. I put the vegetable broth in and then started putting in a ton of veggies. Soon it was veggies and no broth which meant I had to get out a bigger pot and add more water to the mix. Then I added I think barley which of course soaked up the liquid so I had to add more. By the time I finished thank heaven the soup was delicious but I was eating it 3 times a day so I did not have to throw it out. I know you are saying put it in the freezer which was my thought but when I opened the freezer I realized it was full. I live in an apartment and the freezer is really small.

I hope you enjoyed your time out and that you got to relax. I am sure little Lopez will be glad to see you. Can hardly wait to hear how the dance was.

  14. Hope the getting out helped. David always made a big mess when he
cooked so when he got so wobbly, I encouraged him to stop for safety
sake because I always had to clean up...Whatever he made would be just
delicious, but oh the mess he made.

  15. The leftover soup will be so delicious when a day comes up that you don't want to cook and it will make for a super easy meal. I hope you enjoyed the dance recital.
