This is of the state of the driveway this morning-- There is a bit more ice, but--- it sure is better to walk on to-day, than it was!--Even the roof is "snowless right now! --But---- I hear that 10 more cm of snow is heading our way in the next few days! Lord love a Duck!
Yesterday, in No frills, they had bagels--if you bought 2 pkgs., they were cheaper--so--I did! This morning I dragged them out for Himself and I-----I told himself I forgot to get the cream cheese to spread on them, but I had cheese whiz in the frig----Himself looked at the cheese whiz, then asked, "You know this jar of cheese whiz says , best before 2019." --
"I'll throw that out", I told him, "because I have another jar of cheese whiz in the cupboard here."---I brought out the one in the cupboard, opened it, and spread it on my bagel--
Later on, while in the kitchen, Himself said again, "Did you eat that cheese whiz, from the cupboard?"
"Yes", I told him.
"Well, that jar's date says, best before July, 2020", he said!---
So, once again , I must go thru the can cupboard--do some throwing-- It really seems like I just did that--- Maybe it was in 2019 ---- OMG---time flies doesn't it?
I guess in my spare time, (what spare time?)-I should set my book aside --- Covid-- CNN--- a good book really does help keep reality away!
Loved your funny blog today! Sure made me laugh!🤣😂
ReplyDeleteHi Dorothy --Life is kinda funny eh?-=-WE just have to remember to laugh at the crazy stuff! Lynda
ReplyDeleteI have that kind of thing happen often. I do not toss everything, though. My son lives with me, and he goes through stuff often. And I label leftovers with a stick um note date on top, and when I freeze meat, it helps. Life…oh me….
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's a really good sign that Himself is engaged in finding those expiration dates on the Cheez Whiz! Maybe you can assign him the task of looking at the dates on the cans in the cupboard. A few years ago, I started using a Sharpie to mark the date when I open condiments (salsa, sauces, mayo, etc.) that I store in the fridge. It's so helpful, as sometimes I think I've had a sauce or relish for only a few months and it turns out to be a LOT longer.
ReplyDelete(P.S. - Butter or melted cheese is good on bagels. Just saying.)
Hi Lynda....Time does fly....it seems even more so, the older you become! We all can relate to expired “stuff” in the cupboard. Maybe Fred needs to be in charge of reorganizing since he’s the one tuned into expiration dates today, LOL!
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying your day!❤️
You've given all of us a good reminder to clean out the pantry. I'm sure some things in there are long overdue.
ReplyDeleteMore snow? Apparently, we got hit with a storm in parts of the state, but nothing where I'm at.
LOL about the expiration dates. My kid sis came over for tea a couple weeks back and we ended up tossing boxes of tea bags with expiration dates of 2007 and 2013!
ReplyDeleteOh I know! My pantry probably has some dates long past their expiration dates. Takes time to go through it all.
ReplyDeleteGood to see somuch of your snow is evaporated! Sprig will be here . . . soon!
Here's to a good Tuesday!
hugs

It's amazing how quickly those expiration dates come up!
ReplyDeleteBest By is not an actual expiration date. Some stuff is still good for years past that date if not opened. Check the website https://stilltasty.com/ to see if a product is Ok past the date or not.
ReplyDeleteStill Tasty doesn't address Cheez Whiz, but I did find this: https://www.deseret.com/1997/9/2/19331878/cheez-whiz-can-be-edible-months-past-expiration-date
DeleteI know of someone that didn't pay attention to expiry dates and uses stuff well passed - like a few years passed - and apparently has never had a problem. Driveway looks much better than it did. Hope you don't get a bunch more.
ReplyDeletetake care.
Roof and driveway looking much improved. Hope your forecast is wrong...no more snow.
ReplyDeleteAt least Fred is engaged with the best if used by dates....I never look LOL. most items are fine after date....no doubt I have things past the best if used by date.
Have a great day
Lynda that so reminds me of a visit to MIL. She was a hoarder who thought she had 15 children and 5 cats. A visit toMelbourne with 3 kids aged 10,11,12 meant she stocked up on chocolate coated biscuits. A whole cupboard full of them because they were on special.
ReplyDeleteOur son gorged and gorged to the point he .....
Now won’t eat them at all.
..... 30 years on the cupboard still full cos they were on special!
Lord. Love a duck when she passed!
Yes give himself a job.pantry sorting. Date and alphabet will keep him going a few hours!
Glad for the food decluttering. My kids take turns at throwing out things that are due. Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteIf it was sealed, then it might be ok.
ReplyDeleteI have to stay up to date on our cupboards...lol...when the kids left
I found stuff that was 3 years past date.
