Happy Halloween---

" Monday--Monday-"--That is a song isn't it?-- --And--- I need to inform yu all that I have decided there is a God in Heaven--and yu know that I am going  to tell yu how I know that ---  Son #4, who works for the city-- and as he says, "I know all about water Mom."----

He came out yesterday afternoon and moved the summer tires to a shelf--also  managed to get more stuff in our "almost too tiny" shed---and  because he supervises  homes in town with water troubles, he told me, "NEVER BUY A HOUSE IN A HOLE"--water always moves downhill---he told me---I thought about the house we decided wasn't for us, and it was situated  where 2 streets meet, and both streets were at the bottom of a hill--probably why the sub floor in the basement--He went on to say, "Never buy a house with the ground slanting down towards the house-"--more water problems--  Live and learn  eh?--

Sadie, the cleaning Lady, who is really me-- is chomping at the bit here to get started---  but I must  remind myself to-day to take time to enjoy the view-- like--enjoy the day--  There is no snow falling--It is mild outside-I am not sick--  Himself seems OK-- and we are  alive--AND--- WE HAVE BANANAS---- a big plus! -Some days, are you almost afraid to be happy--?---Isn't that crazy?-
It is Halloween night--  We will have 4 children---There are 4 young children on this street--and, I have enough candy for 50 children--LOLOL---
Are yu dressing  up?---Do yu get  a zillion kids coming to your door? We used to , when we lived in town. Have yu eaten a fair amount of that candy already?----I used to---Lord love a Duck-- I used to have to  refill my stash just before Halloween night--because I ate it all!---

Make the best of  to-day---Enjoy the children---and their costumes- take pictures-- like  this!-- (Our Granddaughter , many moons ago)

  1. Lynda, it just goes to show that we're never too old to learn, eh? I'm glad son#4 gave you that advice and see, good thing you didn't jump and take that house!!

It's dull/dark and raining here, not bad temps, in the 40's. Seems like a night when my children were small and I'd take them out trick or treating on Halloween - a wet one!! You will get a lot of youngsters next year, if you move into town.

Your day sounds okay and I'm glad today has started off well for you.
Love and hugs to you, Fred and your furry companions xoxo

  2. Great decision right on time! There's no Halloween celebration where I live. There will be some going on but not much since we inherited more from the Spanish than from the English ;-) Glad I don't and can't buy as much delicious candy as you have over there or I will do the same of eating it all up before the kids arrive. (Though there are many imported candy, there's not as much variety and quality as you have in North America!) Happy Halloween!

I feel so privileged to know yu -- in such a lovely country-Lynda -P.S. YU still want me to send yu snow--say --in January?--LOL-Lynda

  3. Good morning and happy Halloween! I also have enough candy for 50+ and will probably see maybe a dozen. The rest of the candy will be given to the Boys and Girls club.
Our weather is beautiful and a little cold. I am definitely a summer person and already miss my flowers. Even watering them every day. Oh well…
Glad that you passed on the small house. Yes, we live on a small hill and I am always thankful when the snow melts. Your son is correct and your intuition was correct!!! Of course! Trust the gut!
I am off to watch my youngest Halloween parade at his school. Last one since he will be in middle school next year!🥹. Love my boys, but hate to see them grow up so fast. I’m not getting older so how are they?😂🤣😂
Have a great week! I have company coming for a week. It will be busy and fun! Hugs!!!!

  4. Good morning,
More valuable information from son. Good to know.
We live in a villa community and get no trick or treaters so didn't buy any candy. If I had candy at home, I'd have eaten it and would have to buy more..
    Cloudy and cool...50s in St.Louis.
    Treat Sadie to lunch lol
    Have a great day.
    Hugs

  5. Some lessons are best soaked in over the years. I've done slightly better about the Halloween treats this year, but only because I already made my candy-eating mistakes earlier. I've got candy and expect a couple dozen spooks of child-size tonight.

  6. We live in an development that doesn't have any children. It wasn't planned that way but all the people who have bought here are either seniors or nearly retirement age so all the their kids are grown up. The weather here is supposed to be fabulous this week . . . no rain and 60's daytime highs. I have a bunch of things to finish doing before the snow flies. Today is the 4th anniversary of our new home in New Hampshire. We moved for a beautiful old farm house in Vermont to our brand new single floor smaller home 4 years today. It was a good move and the timing could not have been better for us. Happy Halloween.

  7. Son #4 is pretty smart and I agree with him about not living downhill. We live very close to the Mississippi River and a couple of times it has overflowed but we are safe about 25 feet higher than the river. Happy Halloween to you. It will be quiet for us. We haven't had any children on this block for years and never get trick or treaters! I wouldn't have a thing to give out!

  8. Yup . . . . Monday, Monday . . . the Mamas and the Papas.

LOVE your son’s advice . . never buy a house in a hole! Lived in a house years ago that was across from a creek. Had a 500 yr. flooding rain. IT WAS A MESS. That was my indoctrination for not living near water. Or in a hole.

It’s a good day when you have bananas! I know . . . it’s the same way here.

We used to have lots of kids coming around on Halloween Not any more. Seems to have really declined since the Pandemic. Of course, Halloween was non-existent in 2020. It was reinstated last year but I think there are lots of house parties for the kids vs. going door to door. The times keep changing.

    No candy eating here, fortunately.

    hugs

  9. Yes, that is a song…just another Manic Monday! Lol Happy Halloween! Our trick or treat is always a Thursday before Halloween. I don’t like that! It was always ON Halloween when I was growing up! I haven’t gave candy out three years now because of covid. I have immune systems problems and have to be so careful. Enjoy your little children that come. Happy your son came out to help! Yes, I think it was very wise to let that house go and wait it out. So much to be thankful for indeed so being happy is good! Hugs, Lynda!:)

  10. Happy Halloween, Lynda! I have bought enough candy for about 35 kids…we may have 2, we may have 30…I hope we have lots because I only buy candy I LIKE and I sure don’t need to eat it!
    Good advice from Son#4…makes sense!
Hope you have a happy, calm, and lovely day!❤️Eissa7

  11. Glad son #4 gave more reasons that the house would have been a bad decision. Like the saying about making the best of everything you have. Happy hallowe'en and hope the kids eat all your candy!

  13. You son gives you good advice. I find my kids are advising me, too. It used to be the other way around.
    Several of us were sitting downstairs with bowls and bags of candy waiting for kids. Only four showed up...grandkids of residents. I have a feeling Trick or Treating may have been done around here yesterday when it was still the weekend. Oh, well. I got things I like...peanut butter cups (hey, they got protein!), and bitty Hershey bars. {{{HUGS}}}

  14. We'll make up for the rest of you...we usually get 250-300 kids. Not as bad as the houses at the top of the hill who get 400-ish -- I guess the parents with the younger kids don't want to walk all the way down our steep hill and then back up!

  15. No trick or treaters here, don’t have any candy, either. Do have part of my sons birthday cake, lol. And some horrible Keto chocolate, that will make you swear off of chocolate. Nice weather out, no jackets needed for kids who are out. Doris

  16. Thank goodness for our kids that help us out! Glad Son#4's advice was a boost to your confidence about passing on that house!
Only about 16 trick or treaters here.....as I live out of town....in a subdivision where all the houses have to be 2 acres. I have a double lot so have 4 acres! Trouble is that they allow 3 nights for trick or treat which I think is too much. I only turned my light on last night and tonight for awhile - but there is a severe fog alert out and it is hard for anyone to drive out here - so I turned my light off after a few of my neighbor kids stopped by. Good thing I bought candy I like - as there is a little left over....hahha! Not worried about it as my grandkids will finish it off when they come over!
Happy Halloween and Hello to November! Glad everything is going well with you Lynda!
